Do you like your body? Well, hopefully this poem can help you like it just that little bit more😀.

I wrote this just now after one of my girls was getting ready for bed. She looked at her tummy and asked me if I thought it was ‘a bit, you know, round.’

Of course I reassured her that her body was great exactly as it was, but it reminded me once again how we can be so critical of our own shape, size, weight etc.

And then this poem arrived.

Enjoy! And Be Proud of What You’ve Got!

I’m going to this school in a few weeks. They have 45 minutes EVERY DAY timetabled for reading. That’s pretty impressive, I’d say😀 ... See MoreSee Less

New Year, New Idea! But I need your help.

As a storyteller, writer and poet in Primary Schools, I've been training teachers, recently qualified teachers, newly qualified teachers and trainee teachers for the last ten years or so on behalf of Wakefield Council and the Education Learning and Improvement Department.

However, I'm now branching out and delivering my own independent training. My first course is on 29th January - just three weeks away!

My course is titled: 'How to Inspire Children to Write' and is one that has been extremely well received for many years. The feedback I get is fantastic - delegates love the fact that my workshops are extremely practical and full of ideas that they can take straight back to the classroom.

Please have a look at the attached flyer and if you know any teacher friends, or trainee teacher friends who might like to come along, PLEASE share / tag them / do both!

Thank you so much. Bit of a first for me - I usually simply turn up and do the training. This time I have to find the people to train, otherwise when I turn up there'll just be an empty room!

Booking couldn't be easier. Click on the following link or go direct to my website and click on the training tab at the top.

Looking forward to seeing you there and giving you loads of ideas for inspiring your children to write!

High Bank Hi Jinks!

I was back at one of my favourite schools today - High Bank in Liversedge. It was them, remember, for whom we collected all those books earlier in the year. I just LOVE this school. I was reminded once again...
