Creative Writing Workshops

From sailing the seas with Captain Cut-throat, to landing in the middle of a rainforest adventure on the back of an oversized parrot, my workshops stimulate even the most reluctant of writers – boys and girls. Broken down into manageable chunks, each workshop is tailored to meet the specific needs and varying abilities of the children with whom I work.

Whether it be travelling to Space in a brand new rocket, or fighting a fire-breathing dragon that has just gobbled up the Head Teacher, I offer sessions that are designed to enthuse and delight everybody in the class. Time is always given at the end of a session for some of the children to read out their work.

One of my best loved (and unique) workshops is my ‘Story from Scratch’ session where I help the whole group to create a story out of nothing. Children often remember the story that they’ve created years after my visit, and always have a great sense of ownership of it. They are also incredibly engaged and desperate to write down the story that we’ve created.

My passion for writing, added to my enthusiasm within the classroom, make for writing workshops that children love.

I am happy to bring my own writing workshops or to link with current classroom topics.

My writing workshops are appropriate for all Primary school aged children.

Today I learned that the London Eye is 135 metres tall. But far better than that - I learned how to make a pencil crayon tower! Class 3's is far superior, but I'm hampered by my rounded pencil crayons. Is it acceptable to go and buy hundreds of flat edged pencil crayons for the sole purpose of building a taller tower?

We also wrote a poem about it.
